Rolling Process

Standard thread stock is manufactured in twelve foot lengths, then cut once to six foot lengths for shipping through common carriers. The resulting raw threaded bar length can vary from the nominal by as much as 6 inches.

There is a fair amount of thread runout (un-usable portion due to underfil) on every raw threaded bar. The length of thread runout varies depending upon the thread form and diameter. When ordering raw threaded bar, thread runout is included.

However, to get an exact length (within +/- 0.060 inch) ask for a Quick Cut. We will cut off the non-usable portion of the thread and ensure that your specific length is delivered.
